James Harden Traded to Brooklyn Nets

January 19, 2021: NBA superstar James Harden was traded to the Brooklyn Nets last Wednesday (1/13) in a blockbuster trade between 4 teams.

Here’s the full trade:

Nets received: James Harden (from the Houston Rockets) and a 2nd round pick (from the Cleveland Cavaliers).

Rockets received:  Victor Oladipo (from Pacers), Dante Exum (from Cavs), Rodions Kurucs (from Nets); Brooklyn’s three unprotected first-round draft picks for 2022, 2024, and 2026 draft in the deal, plus pick swaps in 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027; and Milwaukee’s 2022 first-round pick, via Cleveland.

Pacers received: Caris LeVert (from Rockets via Nets) and a 2023 second-round pick from the Rockets.

Lastly, the Cavaliers received Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince from the Nets.

Yes, the Nets did give up a lot for Harden, but the Nets now have three Top 10 players in the league on their team, the other two being Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. This is definitely the most talented trio in NBA history; the 90’s Bulls trio was fantastic, but most say this trio is even scarier.

Nets GM Sean Marks, head coach Steve Nash, and most fans were a bit upset that they had to give up Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert, who are both stars in the making, but I think it was worth it. Caris LeVert was unfortunately diagnosed with a small mass on his left kidney, which will keep him out indefinitely. This is horrible news for all basketball fans to hear as Caris LeVert was really playing well and proving himself on the court.

This Nets team has won their first 2 games with Harden on the roster. They defeated the Orlando Magic 122-115 and the Milwaukee Bucks 125-123 this past weekend. The Kevin Durant and James Harden duo seems to be extremely dominant already as Harden and KD have combined for 138 points in the past 2 games. Kyrie Irving has been sitting out for the past 2 weeks due to “personal reasons,” but is expected to make a return to practice today and possibly play tomorrow night against the Cavaliers for the first time since January 5th. Once he comes back, this trio should be unstoppable offensively. NBA fans are already predicting that the Los Angeles Lakers and the Brooklyn Nets will face each other in the NBA finals and we are not even a quarter of the way through the season. The Nets look to continue the way they have been. playing and hopefully win a championship this year.
